R Consortium

The R Consortium supports open-source development for statistical computing. They fund projects and events that strengthen the R ecosystem for data science.

They oversee working groups focused on R in the enterprise, bioinformatics interoperability, and package checks automation. ELIXIR

ELIXIR is an intergovernmental organisation that brings together life science resources from across Europe, including databases, software tools, training materials, cloud storage and supercomputers, to form a single sustainable infrastructure for biological information. As a European life sciences infrastructure, ELIXIR connects over 240 research institutes in 21 Member countries and three Observer countries, enabling researchers to access and analyse diverse life science data to accelerate discoveries in public health, the environment, and the bioeconomy. The ELIXIR Hub, coordinated by EMBL-EBI, oversees national Nodes in each member country, fostering collaboration and data standardisation through five Platforms—Data, Tools, Compute, Interoperability and Training—and supports diverse Communities focused on topics such as Metabolomics, Plant Sciences and Galaxy workflows.

National Human Genome Research Institute

The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) is the U.S. federal institute dedicated to advancing genomic research to improve human health. Established in 1989 to lead NIH’s role in the International Human Genome Project, NHGRI oversaw the completion of the first human reference genome in 2003 and has since expanded its mission to understanding the structure, function, and variation of the genome in health and disease. Through its intramural and extramural programs, NHGRI funds cutting-edge projects in genome sequencing, gene editing, and computational genomics, developing resources such as the Genome Reference Consortium and the All of Us Research Program to democratize access to genomic data and technologies.
